Talking Our New X748

We moved in August. Looking for a place with a couple acres, I knew I'd need a rider, so I began looking in earnest in June. If you've followed my other posts, I'm sure you grew tired of me wrestling with the options and now I've finally made up my mind and we took delivery of our new X748 on Friday. The pic's my wife snapped on Friday as I was scoping it out. We were gone all weekend, so I didn't mow until tonight, the last hour in the dark. The grass was long enough and the lights on the tractor good enough, that the darkness was no issue.

Friday I played with some grading on the lane with the blade. It worked much better than I expected, but the 48" box blade is on the way this week. I got the 7-iron, and after several demos this summer on tractors and ZTR's, the 7-iron is awesome! Every bit as good as the Scag and Grasshopper and mounted on the X748, what a dream.

I really balked at how proud JD is of these machines, much of the reason why it took me all summer to decide, but as of right now, it's worth every penny!

Sweet tractor and glad to see you got the SE model . When you get tired of fighting the 3PH look into getting a QH for it you wont be sorry. Also check out Pat's Easy change System. slkpk

I noticed you didn't have any gloves on messing with your hyd hoses. Make sure you turn the tractor off and move the levers to alleviate pressure in the hydraulics before trying to install or remove implements. slkpk

Thanks for the heads up. I noticed from the warnings that hyd fluid under the skin can cause GANGRENE! Gad zooks!

That's a fine looking ride, wish I had one like it......oh, yeah, that's right, I DO! The front blade is awesome, makes me wish I got enough snow to justify getting one.

On the 7I deck, along the front edge just to the right of the front link attachment, there is a "dent". Is that a relief to clear the front drive when the deck is up?

Per your request...

And for Mr. Hodges, I don't think the relief in the deck is for this machine. The hyd lines for the front drive go over that area, but the lockout knob on the hyd accessory control valve is lower than all that and it clears with no problem. Do you think the relief might be for a 2xxx series tractor?

And a few more... I thought the drive over deck would be pretty much a sales gimmick, but it really is pretty cool, simple, too!
